Durham Interfaith Hospitality Network addresses the immediate and ongoing needs of homeless families by mobilizing Durham congregations and people of faith to help families move toward residential stability and self-sufficiency.
We partner with over 30 local congregations which provide overnight accommodations, meals and transportation for our guests on a rotating basis. During the day, families receive comprehensive case management services, including assistance in procuring jobs, medical care, day care and school placement, and stable housing.
In 2013, we served a record 102 people in 34 families, and 81% of the families leaving Durham IHN moved into permanent housing. We could not have helped those families achieve their goals without all our wonderful volunteers and donors, as well as our colleagues and partners in the community - thank you!
We are indebted to all the donors who helped us achieve our goal of raising $25,000 during our Stewards Fund Challenge between October 15 and January 15 - we did it! Based on that success, we are being awarded a matching grant of $25,000 from the Stewards Fund. This money is critical to Durham IHN achieving its goals of serving 40 families this year.
Please help by donating to Durham IHN online through our web page on Network for Good. Or, to avoid the administrative fee, mail your contribution to: Durham IHN, 1216 N. Roxboro St., Durham, NC 27701 or call 919-682-2846 for more information.
We are grateful to all the generous donors and dedicated volunteers who made Durham IHN's annual gala fundraiser on October 25th a success. We netted an amazing $23K! Please reach out to our sponsors and let them know how much we appreciate them, too!
