Responsibilities
Host congregations provide overnight accommodations in their buildings approximately four times per year based on a set schedule. Volunteers from the host and their partner support congregations are responsible for the following:
- Volunteers prepare the space for families and clean up after they leave.
- Host congregations supply linens, which must be laundered after each stay.
- Breakfast and dinner are cooked and served on-site; bagged lunches are provided daily.
- Volunteers transport families to and from the day house each morning and afternoon, and
- At least two volunteers serve as overnight hosts each night.
- Volunteer Coordinators serve as liaisons between each congregation, IHN guests, and DIHN staff. These coordinators are in charge of recruiting and managing volunteer efforts.
